My grandad is going into a care home. He has left his house in a state. It needs new boiler, new electrics, everything. Would you pay to have it all done up or sell it at a loss?

It is worth asking a local agent or two. My Mum was in this position with my Grans house. The local agents said it wasn't worth making the improvements as they would not get the money back.

I imagine send it to auction, let a developer/builder buy it. You probably don't need the stress.

If you sell or keep it depends on whether you're wanting to live in it.

That's ignoring all the issues with your DGM's Will, if you're on the deeds and if you have POA.

Thank you everyone.
We have applied for Deputy which means we will be able to sell his house if we can justify why we are. We will also have control over his money. He is 93 years old and I am sure his cash will be enough to pay for the rest of his time in a care home but at least we have his half of the house as back up just in case.
