Is there a change in the visiting rules due out today? We have been waving through the window to MIL but desperate to get back to conservatory visits. She's had a stroke and communication is nearly impossible.

Hi op our care home visits are continuing as they were before- I visited my dm and df on sat - they sat in the conservatory and I sat just outside the open door.

Although mine both have dementia and I think it was realized that the last lockdown and subsequent closure to any visitors caused more damage than potential risk of Covid. So perhaps that’s just for dementia units I don’t know

I raised Matt Hancock's announcement with our care home and got this response: "I understand Matt Hancock's announcement however the guidance from xxxxxxxx City Council is that home visits are only for people with exceptional circumstances."

There are a number of factors - the advice being given by the local authority; the advice from the HQ of the care home company; the home itself and what scope they have for covid secure visits and the supervision required.

Scotland here. We were expecting to be allowed inside the care home (1 named visitor and only that one) for the first time today and had a session booked but it’s been amended at short notice to an outdoor one. I’m quite pleased as now I can see DM as my DSis is the named person. Up to 3 outside. We’ve had to wait over six weeks as there was a positive staff Covid test.

Our care home (south east) are tweaking their indoor visiting arrangements, building floor to ceiling Perspex screens.
One masked visitor is allowed for 45 minute visit once a week only.

My dad (late stage dementia) has tried to kick down the previous three quarter height screen in frustration so ends up seated so far back that it’s difficult for him to hear or be heard.

Most times he sleeps through visits.

Thankyou everyone. Rang today and they are waiting for official guidelines and hope to allow conservatory visits with the door open from next week

Winterlight sometimes you just wish the managers could make their own interpretations and let you in if you wear full PPE or wrap him up to the nines and let you walk two metres apart in the garden

Rinsefirst That would be lovely, my dad is so much more responsive out of doors too when he can feel the breeze, see the sky and a bit of the world.

My mum is hard of hearing so that adds to the confusion and Dad is completely disoriented by the set up. Sometimes he reacts to the screen as if he’s watching us on television.
