Argh! Haven't seen my parents since last Christmas due to Covid but have been speaking to them more often and have been worrying that they both sound a bit more doddery.

Dad rang this evening to say that Mum had a fall on Friday, was taken to hospital but then sent home as seemed fine. Was in more pain yesterday and unable to lift herself off sofa and he couldn't manage to lift her either. Both mid 70's but both obese with various health complaints. She was readmitted yesterday and they think she has a broken collarbone. She has the fracture clinic tomorrow so will hopefully know more then.

Would usually be worried obviously but Covid adding an extra layer of course. On top of that Mum's older (by only 13 months) sister died last week so it has been playing on my mind a bit that they are all getting on a bit now.

Sorry for the blurting but wondered whether anyone has any idea about likely treatment, prognosis etc. Is this the start of it all going downhill?

No it’s not. But a broken collarbone is bloody painful. Your poor Mum. My DH had one and is younger but really suffered.

Broken collar bones knit together with just a sling usually. My 87yr old dad slipped last year and broke his, he was back to right in about 6 weeks. My 85yr old aunt broke her hip and again, it mended fine so I wouldn't say it's the start of going downhill normally but you say she has other conditions so maybe need to keep a different watch out on them.
