We recently went on an extended family picnic. My daughter made everyone lunch boxes with sandwiches, fruit and sweet treats. All of us including the kids ate sandwiches and fruit first then grazed on the sweet things. My mum (79) just ate the sweet things then kept asking the kids if they were eating theirs because I think she wanted to eat theirs too. She's otherwise fine - shows no signs of memory loss or other behaviour- I just thought this was strange behaviour. Should I be reading anything into this or did she just fancy sweet things? A few years ago I'm pretty sure she would have been horrified by this!

How does she usually eat at home?

Were the textures of what she did eat those that are easier to manage? Although soft, sandwiches can be difficult to swallow as bread can take on a claggy texture, and fruit can be quite hard or pippy, which might be difficult if she has problems with her teeth.

We find my windowed MIL doesn’t eat too well anymore, she buys an inordinate amount of biscuits, cakes and sweets each week- we only know this as we’ve been doing her shopping!
We try to include fruit but she finds it too acidic, could it be something similar maybe?
