Severe Arthritic Pain

My DM is mid 60s but has had osteo arthritis for at least a decade plus and it is getting significantly worse. She also has the start of osteoporosis. Her hands has a large plum sized lump, her neck, back and legs hurt.

Her GP prescribes her painkillers but to take the full dose has her stumbling around.

She was meant to see a surgeon for her hand pre COVID but other than that it appears the GP really can't do anymore. Is a life is severe pain all she can expect? Would a private consultation help at all? I'm at a lose as to how to fix this.

Might be worth asking gp if they suggest alternatives, or whether private referral may help.
Specialist dm saw for arthritis said acupuncture could help and has made a difference. Via local private physio clinic

I'm only 29.. but have was diagnosed with RA when I was 16. I manage my pain with 30/500 cocodamol and Naproxen. What has the dr prescribed?

I can thoroughly recommend the herb Sigesbeckia, it can work wonders for joint pain & is usually very well tolerated with very few of any interactions with conventional medications. My mum took it for OA and found it extremely effective. Have a google & see what you think

What is she on?
It would be worth requesting a neuropathic analgesic which may help if she's already on a non-steroidal. Something like amytriptylline or gabapentin. Acupuncture can also be helpful as can gentle mobilisation exercises.
And ask for a referral to your nearest pain clinic

Thanks for your replies. She has been to pain clinics. Had injections in hands. I know she is on tramodol, was on naproxen but think the prescription was stopped for a while due to kidney worry. I collected either pregablin or gabapentin the other day. Not sure if they are the same thing? If not, she has been on both I believe.

I'll have a look at the other suggestions thank you. She does do a daily walk and some exercises from a physio. I'm really worried that this is just it from now on.
