When might we see parents in care homes?

I'm not complaining or wanting to rush btw. But I really can't see a way to visit care homes until we can get some sort of vaccine or certification.
Thank heavens my dad is healthy and extremely happy where he is but I genuinely cannot fathom when I might be able to see him

I was wondering this, too, though I am in the wrong country to be of help to you (Germany), but perhaps the same strategies apply?
They plan to open DMIL's care home to one desiganted visitor per resident (+ mask and distancing) from Monday onwards.
In preparation for this they are establishing the status quo by testing every resident and carer.

Thanks for the reply, we're not at that stage yet here, they are still working out testing for staff and residents in care homes.

My mums care home has said not for at least 3 weeks but will be reviewed.

Testing of all patients and staff is happening in UK and has happened for both DM and Duncle in different care homes. Social distanced visits were being up with benches outside at my mums care home as no positice cases or staff. Unfortunately uncle's carehome has had many cases of COVID and he has just tested positive so we'll have to wait until he's recovered before we can do a socially distanced visit. He also has dementia so not certain that he would recognise us after nearly 3 months of lockdown Sad

Apparently there are discussions starting to take place with ideas being considered such as ‘by appointment’ or with perspex areas. Even to get 2 m away once a week for 20 minutes would be a start but this is going to put so much additional pressure on the care team to set up. Be interesting to see how hospitals do it.

My mother’s care home you have to book an appointment. Then you can go and sit in the garden 2 metres apart, one visitor at a time. The sad part is that my mum can’t go outside, I am allowed to wave through window but still need to use phone to chat as she’s hard of hearing So it’s not quite the same and it’s making my mum very depressed.
