Retrospective Continuing Healthcare+The Appeals Process

My mum died last year having lived in a care home for some time before her death. I've found this article which talks about applying for retrospective healthcare costs and I just wondered if anyone had ever done it? Thanks.

That's a solicitor blog looking for business and isn't entirely that helpful / a little misleading (as those types of articles often are)

I'm sorry to hear your mum died

You would need a solid basis for asking for CHC retrospective funding. Are you able to talk us through basic facts of what happened? what occurred around the point you believe she should have got CHC funding from?

Do you recall anyone completing a CHC checklist or the full CHC DST assessment - either of which you disagreed with?

I have heard of CHC being awarded after someone has passed away but in every single circumstance CHC was being discussed/ appealed/ disputed/ in the process of being awarded prior to death.

Its really unlikely that a challenge this far down the line would be successful, even if you had quite a strong case. The records and the knowledge of staff involved in her care just won't be there any more to evidence that she had that level of need at the required level to get CHC.

Sorry for your loss Flowers
