Just need to vent... please bear with ...

My DM 74 has hearing issues, I've just tried phoning her and she couldn't hear me.. started rambling about other stuff in reply to what she thought she'd "heard me say"

It is So frustrating, for both of us... so I hung up (although I doubt she'll have even noticed.

I am such a bitch. Aaaaaasnd breathe...

Would she manage texts instead or ask bt to install a phone especially for the hard of hearing. Does she wear a hearing aid. Hanging up is pretty rude.

OldSpeclkledHen · 28/11/2019 14:23

I've text her...
Yes I was rude, I freely admit that.
Her aids are playing up, thought she'd got them fixed but as Spec Savers have taken over all the NHS audiology, they don't have the required parts!!!
I am allowed to vent - thought this was a safe space 🙄- she probably feels the same way about me though!

SpeckledHen rant away, 70 year old DH who won’t wear his hearing aids, 93 year old DM who struggles with hers, FiL refused to change the batteries until they were as dead as a dodo. I understand your frustration

DM has no hearing issues. She can however talk for an hour solid, without any input from me. She frequently doesn't notice whether I'm still there or not. I accidentally muted myself once, but it was ok, she didn't notice.

It is a safe space OP

That must be incredibly annoying and frustrating

Is her hearing aid an old one? My dad had to get a different one completely when they stopped making replacement parts.
