Just that really, my mum has started with mild dementia, she lives on her own and is in dependant. However she is forever forgetting things such as doctors appointments. I have bought her a large clock that shows the time and date but it doesn't seem to be helping. Wondered if I bought her an echo dot if I could send reminders to it from my house.

Maybe thinking of the echo show if I can access it from home to put reminders on for her.

I haven't done this but it sounds like a good idea to me

I recently visited an assistive technology show home for work and Alexa is in there doing a whole host of things including all you suggest.

Great for reminders and you can even drop in and and talk through it.

I have an Alexa and it's great for reminders.

The only worry I would have in that situation is that when my Gran had dementia she had a lot of anxiety and often heard things, I'm wondering if a sudden disembodied voice telling her she has an appointment might be a bit disorientating or even frightening?

That may not be the case for your mum but I know my own granny would have found it quite confusing.

Though the announcements can start by saying 'Announcement from Kaz220' which might assure her a little?

You can also do voice recordings so it's YOU talking rather than 'Alexa'.

Oh I'm exited to get it now, have ordered a show. I have a dot but only use it for an alarm and radio.

Would a disembodied voice not freak her out?
She might not understand where the voice is coming from and it could scare her.

I think something visual would be better.

Alexa scares the shit out of me sometimes!
