I could do with some advice as I'm at my wits end with my grandparents - both are 80 years old and have their own set of health issues. Nan has had heart issues all of her life and never worked with my grandad caring for her all through their married lives.

He had a fall back in 2008 and broke his hip and has never been the same since mobility wise but has got worse throughout the years. He had to give up driving last year and he barely leaves the house now. His mobility is awful and he has frequent falls. The issue is me and my sister are juggling all of their needs, appointments, shopping, errands, attending to him when he falls but they have been arguing on and off for months now and half the time I'm scared to walk in there as I never know what to expect.

My Nan feels she is alone all the time as he sleeps from 3pm in the afternoon but sh is not accepting of the fact he is not a healthy young man anymore. He gets very confused and is rigidly set in his ways. I've had therapists in to make minimal adaption to the house say handrails, elephants feet for sofa to raise it but they won't allow any other adaption or other help. We are honestly burnt out and don't know where to go from here.

So sorry I had paragraphs but they seem to have disappeared

I can see your paragraphs!

you and your sister can't possibly cope with this. I'm going to flag up this thread on the main Elderly Parents thread as there are lots of posters who can help with practical advice - but sadly the main issue will be persuading them to get help from people other than you. You might have to step back in order to get them to realise this.

Thank you, we have tried to step back but my Nan can be a right nightmare to my grandad when she wants to be and we have found when we step back she will not do the things for him that we do as she feels he should be able to do them himself.
