My Mum needs one so am hoping for some recommendations from you lovely lot.

One linked to a 24 hour care line. Any suggestions please?

DH's nan has a Life Line one, she wears a bracelet round her wrist as she didn't want anything round her neck. If she presses it they can speak to her somehow (I think through her phone) and will call whoever's on her list of people to be called, so someone can get to her. It's come in really handy a couple of times when she's fallen over.

Thanks Millie. I’ll do a Google!

If you look up your local council website they should be able to provide them, or at least point you in the right direction.

Really Jem? I didn’t know that. Thanks.

I work with elderly people (in Scotland, don’t know if it’s different elsewhere) and that is what we usually do. There’s usually a small cost- about a tenner a week or so.

My DD works for our local council and they deal with this all the time. There are some rogue companies out there charging a fortune so be careful. We had one for my Nan and it was great peace of mind even though she was terrified of pressing it by accident.

Passthebubbly · 04/12/2018 22:03

My father had one and my mum has one now. Excellent for peace of mind, thankfully have not had to use it in an emergency but knocked it by accident a few times and the response has always been immediate and thorough.

What I will say is the person in need has to be accepting of it. My mum is having none of it and her bracelet lives on the fire place so kind of defeats the purpose.

Both my mum and my MiL have LifeLine which I can heartily recommend.

My parents have them. They both wear pendants and there's smoke/carbon monoxide detectors linked to their system too. It was organised through their local social services.

I live an hour away so they have a Keysafe too (so the emergency services don't have to break the door down).

Thankfully we haven't need it yet!

Lifeline is definitely one recommended by some Councils.

Thanks all. My Dad is getting in touch with the Council to see what’s on offer.
