Elderly parents

American mom but I'm in England

My elderly mother is American and has been having seizures causing her to fall...ideally she would come and live with me and my husband. But we live and work in Britain (husband and I have British citizenship, mom doesn't).

Is there any way she could come and live here with us either temporarily (with us taking her on visa runs??) Or permanently? In either situation how could we sort out healthcare? She obviously wouldn't qualify for NHS care and she has Medicare in the US that wouldn't cover her here.

I'm an only child and DH and I don't want to move to America. Thanks for any advice you can give us.

This explains about the Elderly Dependent Visa.

I didn't read to closely but I imagine you need to prove that you have the means to care for your relative or they've got the money in the bank to do so. That will include some sort of UK private health insurance...which she will need.

Good luck.xxx
