Doctor visited my mum last Monday and told us she is has late stage lung/throat cancer. I have been trying to get help since May and she is now too weak to have an exploratory operation with GA or to undertake radiotherapy or chemotherapy. The only thing they can offer is palliative care. When I spoke to the GP on Friday he was writing to the consultant and trying to arrange a scan. Can anyone give my any idea when a things might kick into place. I've arranged a stair lift to be fitted this week and been and bought things such as riser chair, toilet frame, wheelchair etc as whilst I've been in Canada for 3 weeks she has become increasingly weak and unable to walk far. My brother, who lives with her has been caring for her and obviously, I am now involved. My reaction to problems is to take over and become pro-active which I'm realising is not really working in my mum's case. She feels its too much too soon. I just feel in limbo now waiting for things to start happening and could really do with some advice about where we go from here.
