Anyone had experience of this? My FIL is currently in hospital and his own rented flat really isn't going to be suitable when he is discharged. He isn't mobile and can't get in the bath and there's no shower.
There is a flat round the corner available in an assisted living place but when I phoned today they said they wouldn't rent it out till he'd met the committee. I had hoped to get him moved so that he could move into the new place when he gets discharged. So how am I meant to organise a visit to the committee??
I'm also not sure if they will want him - if they are assessing his personality and ability to manage. He's very grumpy and we're wondering if there's a dementia issue but it's not so bad that hospital won't discharge him to live independently!! He'll have a care package put in place but he'd be better off in an assisted living place than a flat that he can't get in and out (steps) and no washing facilities.
Any advice would be much appreciated. It's all feeling very frustrating!!
