Good home/sheltered housing in Hailsham area?

Hello, my Aunt has been living in a McCarthy Stone flat in Hailsham until recently when she fell and broke her collarbone and a rib. She's on the mend now but is anxious about returning to the flat and is starting to think she might need more help at hand. Does anyone have experience of a good home or more managed scheme in the area? As with many posters we're quite a way from her and really don't know the area. Many thanks. MB25

Luke Lade Court ,Hailsham
Run by large reputable company - Anchor .
Rent ,not purchase .
www.anchor.org.uk/our-services/service-search/Pages/ServiceDetail.aspx?ServiceId=1258

But ...probably smaller accomodation than where she is .

Perhaps she's just having a wobble .
Couldn't she stay where she is with a bit more support ? Pendant alarm ?
The hospital should talk through what services ,support are available before discharging her .

Could you ask Age Concern for advice ?

Thanks for the link Gingeroots; will follow up. From some of the photo's i'm not sure it will be smaller, her current flat is quite pokey. I know it's subjective, but if you have any experience of the place what's Luke Lade like?

I agree I think she is having a wobble, but to be frank she's rather prone to them - the slightest suggestion of feeling tired/unwell and she stands friends up or takes to her bed.

She currently does have someone to help her bath and get dressed and has a cleaner. I think she also has a pendant alarm. One issue we do have is that where she is now the site manager is only there in the morning, Mon - Fri which is why a scheme with more management might be the next step.

After being discharged she's been in Alfriston Court whilst her breaks mended, but she is now less mobile and worried to try to do things. They have a fantastic physio there who's been chivvying her on (which she really needs as mentioned above), but yesterday she had another fall and is back in Eastbourne DGH for the time being.

We were hoping that she could return to her flat if we could sort out a bit more help for her but I think yesterday's fall will have shattered her confidence, we'll just have to wait and see.

Ummm well I do know Luke Lade Court - like most of sheltered properties built by Anchor at that time the flats have a bathroom and WC and a kitchen but the lounge and sleeping area is combined ,like a studio flat .

I'm not sure whether they offer a resident warden ,they used to but may have moved to a similar set up as McCarthy &Son .

Anchor are a very good organisation with masses of experience in this field .

Good Luck ,sorry not be more help .

No, that does help. Looking at websites gives you some info, but I hadn't twigged they were studio flats, so yes that will be smaller than her current flat. Also good to know you feel they are a competent organisation - we haven't been thrilled with some aspects of McCarthy Stone's set up.

Thanks again. MB25
