Mum as end stage cancer - should be entitled to end of life continuing care through the NHS. She also lives on the boundary of 3 counties, a, b, and c. She lives in a, gp is in b, and she has now moved into a care home in c. As part of the move to the care home she has changed GP. Lots of people must do similar in that area - they should be used to handling it !
But somehow no-one can work out who should set up the continuing care. GP/district nurse (in county b) say talk to social care in county a, social care in county a say it is NHS. GP then say try macmillan (why them ? - they are a charity - it is NOT their call !). Macmillan say talk to district nurse. District nurse finally says its too complicated - now it is up to social care in county c (or may district nurse in county c !). Why ?! Social care in county a have already decided it is NHS now !
It's not like she is moving from Bristol to Newcastle - they are neighbouring bloody counties - surely they must deal with each other all the time ?!
Aarrrgh. I really don't need this when my mum is dying of cancer, and I also have my own life to cope with (kids, work etc etc).
Rant over - it helps to get it out at least :)
