"Trust School"

Just found out that the seconday school DS will be going to in September is considering turning into a trust school.

I've read the booklet but still unsure what this means for the school.

One bit that does concern me is the emphasis on "we will be in control of our own admissions policy".

DS1 is already in but if they start moving the goal posts, what about DS2?? The school is hard enough to get into as it is, I'm worried now that DS2 won't get a place in two years time.

Are you currently living 'in catchment' for the school? If so, you are unlikely to have any problems in future years as you will have a sibling there as well.
If you are living outside of what is currently considered to be catchment area, you need to consider how you gained your ds place.
Even out of area, most schools, even those in charge of their own admissions, will still prioritise siblings of existing pupils ahead of first time applicants. Been in charge of their own admissions, means that they have the flexibility to make decisions based on individual circumstances.
I would suggest that once your ds is in school in September, you make an appointment and discuss your concerns. That will show your commitment both to the school and to your children's education.
Good luck
