Dear all,

I am currently putting together a business plan for an extra-curricular school for Gifted and Talented youngsters aged 11-13.

Initially starting out as a weekend class, I'm also looking to put on week-long programmes in the holidays.

Each 6-week Saturday programme would cost £75 with a 5-day programme in the holidays costing £85.

The point of the school would be to push Gifted and Talented youngsters so that they learn to utilise their gifts in a manner than can be applied to school work, enabling them to achieve their very best at GCSE.

With the government announcing a renewed focus on A*-C grades, lots of schools are turning their focus to C/D borderline students safe in the knowledge that those who are gifted will achieve within these parameters anyway. I want to ensure that those students are not allowed to coast, instead challenging them with advanced materials and ideas.

What I want to know is this - how many parents out there would be interested in such a programme?

A simple yes/no would do, as would any feedback.

Cheers me dears!

Rebby

I'd need to know a lot more about it than that to be able to answer.

How would you define G&T?
Who would run the courses?
What would they consist of?
Would they be subject-based? School subjects? Other subjects (eg new languages)?
How long would they last?
By 11-13 do you mean years 7-9?

You don;t have to answer all these questions btw. I'm just saying that I would want to know all those things (and more) before looking at price.

What does G and T mean? Do they have to be on the G and T register at school - and if so, how would you find out? Or do you take parents "self referral'?

Why do you think that all G and T kids are similar enough to want to spend time together like this?
