Ds attends an amazing SN school. The head won Head of the year last year and his class teacher has been nominated for a teaching award this year.
The school is fantastic. I really could not think of a single thing that i would like them to improve.

So, under these new plans it qualifies to immediatly become and acadamy.

is this a good thing?
I admit to have not read too much about it other than the brief headlines i have seen on the news.

I know that it will mean more money. and that it will be easier for them to deviate from the curriculum, something that would certainly benefit many of the students.

But what else should i know?

I think my DC's school will also qualify. I have no idea what they will do and I am too asking myself the same question! Not sure what to think.

They will also be able to set their own pay levels, so they can pay more to attract better staff.

Academies were introduced by Labour and seem to be working well.

My DCs schools also qualify. However last time round, when it was foundations status. The Primary was one and the secondary wasn't. I would expect the primary might go for academy if the money figures add up. The Secondary had master is the same and was very resistant last time, as it believes in being a "community" school. It also makes better use of the LEA resources. But we will wait and see.
