KS2 SATs boycott - when will parents / pupils know?

I know that there has been much discussion about KS2 SATs over the last few days, but can anyone tell me when we will actually know whether our individual school is going to go ahead with KS2 SATs?

Is the boycott definitely going ahead in some schools? When will we know if our school is one of them? If I ask the headteacher now will she be able to tell me?

I'm a YR6 parent and, like many others I'm sure, would really like to know what this is going to mean for my son...

I would imagine that - at some point - all the heads in your area will get together and decide whether they will actually implement the action. (no school wants to be in the only one in the area that actually goes through with the boycott) Then your head will let you know.

A lot of schools will probably sit the sats anyway a few weeks later so that the children can feel their time hasn't been wasted.

New press release from unions out today - I magine individual schools will inform schools this week. If you don't hear, I would assume your school is unaffected.

I imagine

I went to the GP years ago because I was getting persistent headaches and various blood tests were done. One was a borderline thyroid I was asked to wait and go back a few weeks later for another test. This one had the same result and the Dr reluctantly gave me a low dose of thyroxine ie. 25microgrammes. Over a period of time I was tested every couple of months and now years later I can tell when the levels are low. I'm now on 175 microgrammes of thryoxine, which I believe is at the high end and at this level I feel ok. You would think that if I was borderline then I wouldn't need a high dose of thyroxine, so I have always be dubious about the tests.

As for sore throats I have suffered with them all my life ever since childhood, so I don't know if that's co-incidence or not. Even now I often have the rumbling of a sore throat and think it's going to develop into a cold but it goes away - this is almost weekly.

I know you're supposed to feel exhausted, but I'd just had three children in three years when diagnosed so anyone would be exhausted. Other side effects that I get are feeling the cold and very very sore eyes (apparently not making enough tears).

I hope you are diagnosed with something easily sorted. Fwiw if it is a thyroid problem it won't go overnight as they will gradually increase your dosage until it's right, which can take months. At least you will feel better.

Erm....wrong thread, Housewife!

My school has decided to sit SATs from a previous year but not to send in results/papers to be marked. A semi-boycott I suppose. Our parents have not yet been informed.

The schools in my area are having a meeting this week and will tell parents/pupils next week which way to go.

Thanks - have been keeping an eye on the news reports today...

I know that the YR6 teacher is on playground duty tomorrow morning so I might be cheeky and just ask her what she knows!

Oh dear, must pay more attention!

On topic however I'm anti SAT's, but will very cross on behalf of my dd if they don't sit them. It's all the school have been talking about all year.
