I am doing a foundation degree in Teaching studies (don't try to put me off!).

I am researching the New National Curriculum and need some 'measurement criteria' - but everyone is on Easter break!

I would be soooo interested in comments on:-

The Questionnaire

How would you describe your school?

Where is it?

Does your school fully embrace the New Secondary Curriculum (NSC)?

If yes, how do you operate cross-curricular lessons?

How will the new diplomas change the teaching and learning experience?

How has additional teacher training (CPD) been accomplished?

Was transition fully supported by government agencies?

In your opinion, are parents well informed (by the government, in the media) about important changes to the curriculum?

Are your students aware of changes to the curriculum and the reasoning behind them?

How well informed is your whole school, regarding changes to the curriculum?

What are you predicted outcomes for the first KS4 cohort, educated under the NSC, in 2011?

In the current, electoral climate, are you concerned that a change of government may destabilise changes you have implemented?

Should future education be linked to party politics?

Thank you!!!!

How would you describe your school?
Voluntary Aided Catholic Grammar for boys

Where is it?
Wirral

Does your school fully embrace the New Secondary Curriculum (NSC)?
Yes

If yes, how do you operate cross-curricular lessons?
We set up days where there are one Year group that are off timetable and have a specialist day when they are taught about the same subject e.g Volcanoes. They learn about the chosen subject across different lessons and produce some sort of report at the end of the second day - which would hopefully have information from all aspects that they have been taught. (hope that makes sense?!)

How will the new diplomas change the teaching and learning experience?

I think that staff would need inset on how they need to address the teaching and learning, i.e curriculum, planning, reviewing etc They also need to canvas student opinion.

How has additional teacher training (CPD) been accomplished?

Inset mostly (money is tight) some heads of dept go out for inset and then cascade info to colleagues

Was transition fully supported by government agencies?
Not sure

In your opinion, are parents well informed (by the government, in the media) about important changes to the curriculum?

Yes, those who watch and follow the news and of course, those who are interested!

Are your students aware of changes to the curriculum and the reasoning behind them?

Mostly, yes.

How well informed is your whole school, regarding changes to the curriculum?

Very well informed.

What are you predicted outcomes for the first KS4 cohort, educated under the NSC, in 2011?

Not sure (I'm on maternity leave and so have missed quite a bit)

In the current, electoral climate, are you concerned that a change of government may destabilise changes you have implemented?

In the short term, no. Long term, probably.

Should future education be linked to party politics?

I think it always will be.

Not sure if any of that helps.

Thank you scaredveryscared (don't be, by the way!).

Luciemule: Thank you for the tip. I have had a few responses (phew) and my knuckles rapped for the substandard nature of my questions!
