Politics in education

Should education be removed from government control? Obviously, taxes will have to pay for education but, given the length of time it takes to develop and implement reforms, should we be at the mercy of changes in party policy? Who supports a 'brightest minds' committee with cross party representation, inclusive of educationalist, parental and student opinion?

I wish... particularly after hearing the Tory party ideas for change yesterday. Just when primary schools are embracing a creative curriculum, the children are learning AND having fun and discrete foundation subject teaching has gone, it looks like we may have a new government that wants all children sitting in rows listening to the teacher spout on about the British Empire. (Maybe that's just for anti-bullying week.)

I definitely support some sort of committee. I think many of us assumed this would be the remit of the GTC, but I realy don't know what they do except languish in piles of money.

Apologies for delay. It works in Holland! Let's stop having endless reports and more continuity!
