how do you equate reading schemes and real books

Hi
My ds(4) is currently reading ?New Way?, ?Read & write Inc.? and ?Usborne Phonic readers? at school. At home we have read some ?Red Nose Readers? and various books from the library.

Is there a document which equates the different levels of each reading scheme and standard books? Or do I have to flick through to roughly gauge his level and a bit more stretching?

thanks

I really wouldnt worry about it too much!

Our school sends home little laminated cards at each stage stating what they are working on at the moment, but generally mine will have a bash at whatever they feel like and I let them get on with it. Anything from red nose readers, to Beanos, and dd's Jacqueline Wilsons!

I wouldn't worry much either - try and find stuff that he really likes, even if he needs help to read it.
