NLCS

Anyone have a daughter at NLCS? Mine is in the Junior school currently but wondered what the senior school is like and if it's very pressurised. The reason I ask is because although my dd is doing quite well there - I'm wondering if I should consider other schools at 11+ as I'm not sure how healthy it is to be in the same place for 15 years.
I wonder if she's missing out on other aspects of life as everything seems to revolve around her school!

I now have one in the junior and one in the senior school. Both are really happy. The homework was greater in Y5

Thanks Wisenno!

Did you try your older one at any of the other schools or did she progress through the school as we are doing currently?

Would year 5 prepare her sufficiently for other schools including state?

I do like NLCS but often feel it's become a HUGE part of our lives. Things like 'exhibition' day etc just seem so odd as most of the parents are frantically trying to 'finish' all the amazing art and projects that are required and yet the kids are expected to feel 'proud' of them, knowing that mummy did most of the work!!!

Look at it another way - they are encouraging the parents to work with their children on various projects. I know what you mean though, our efforts always look very lacklustre vs some other parents.

We didn't try my eldest for any other schools - we know a few kids who did move to other schools and their kids went straight into the top steam. This school prepares them for any other school academically but possibly not socially if moving to a mixed school.

I feel to some extent that most private schools don't prepare them for 'real life' but on the other hand it's a bit scary when you look at what the state sector offers in our local area.

Thanks for your thoughts - my DD is turning into a really confident and articulate girl but I often feel she misses out on 'playing' time. On the other hand, I hear most kids in the local state school go to tutors every night so they can't have much 'play' time either!

We'll just have to see....
