If you are an independent school teacher or employee, what sort of fee remission do you get?

I think the teachers at DS's prep school get about a 50% reduction - could that be right?

This is a long shot, but there has just been a (non-teaching, but senior level) job advertised at a local independent school near us, and it says 'fee remission' for parents with children at the school.
I just wondered how much it might be worth (fees are £4k a term, so 50% would be a lot!)

It's a job for which I would be qualified.

In my DC's school the fee reduction is on a sliding scale, so I think that by the time you have served more than 10 years you can get 75% reduction, but I understand that the reduction for the first couple of years of working there is tiny.

h standard is 50% obviously pro rata if you work less than full time.

50% at DH's school.

Is fee remission a taxable benefit?
