School fees - How do you do yours?

Do you save in a particular account, so the fees are always there, or pay as you go, or are there other ways of putting the money by?

Just starting down the road and have 2 years to get the money together to start with all this, so looking for experience in how to go about it.

TIA

Well they do actually show you the truth. Yes these schools select at 11+ or whatever but once your in you know your DC will get what they need to get the results the school needs to keep it's reputation (not 5 A-C's). They don't stop them sitting - you can always find the odd D or C in the results tables. The list of where 6th formers go next is also quite telling.

I disagree, you don't know the levels that the children enter at, you don't know if they are under a major amount of stress to get these results, I know of schools where children are told there is no longer a place for them if they are not performing well as it affects the exam results. Exam results are not everything aswell, there's a social side to school that is really important, exam results do not reflect this.

I know mine aren't under major stress. The social, community, sport, arts side of things is hugely strong with great grounds, sports centres, common rooms, lunchtime and after school clubs, DofE, Cadets etc and the thing about being asked to leave on academic grounds seems to be a bit of a myth (although there is no free pass to 6th form).
I think there is a tendency which I can see on many threads on MN for some non private school users to demonise them in various ways - and the opposite is true also of private school parents re state schools - although I have to say that our local state schools are pretty good and I'm not of the 'it's essential darling' classes.

I absolutley know that my DCs indie schoolis better than the localprimary because I volunteer there.
It's doing really badly and lets the children there down ( as do amny of the parents).
I thank my lucky stars everyday that my DCs don't have to go there. The vast majority of students have np choice whatsoever. Even a better state school is out of the question because the good ones are in the next county. And how would the kids get there, even if they did get a place? There's no bus service to speak of in the countryside.

What really pisses me off is those who have secured a place in a good state school who then want to list it in all its glory. Great. Fill your boots. Enjoy.
I imagine them watching children starving in the developing world and saying, 'Well my fridge is full.'

We pay ours monthly. My salary just about covers it.
