Look on the bright side hunkermunker - maybe your ds will be good at football or something and make loadsa dosh and buy you a mansion and a fast car and get himself a chav girlfriend when he hits the big time.

pindy · 08/07/2005 10:01

No I don't but I could try and get them to be - does that count plz?

ninah · 08/07/2005 10:19

how do you find out?

Enid · 08/07/2005 10:20

I was being serious

marthamoo · 08/07/2005 10:22

Scummy, please don't worry - I'm sure your children will find other ways to shine. We can't all be clever.

Custy I hope you are not implying that my child genius/prodigy is not a bright as I would like to think I think being able to do long multiplication/division before you are 3 is a talent every child should aspire to

Listmaker · 08/07/2005 14:10

Oh ggg that made me laugh - hilarious!

okapi · 08/07/2005 14:12

can't comment as both my children are geniuses

In a similar vein, I have often wondered if people ever think their child is ugly - (again mine are both beautiful)

well DS2 (19months) has just started doing his Phd in Quantum Physics.

Ds1 (5 in september) turned round and told the nursery teacher (when asked 'how do we read')

"you start at the beginning" - that's bright enough for me

WigWamBam · 08/07/2005 14:15

My MIL thinks my dd is ugly ... or at least that she's "not all that attractive, is she dear".

I know she's gorgeous.

CountessDracula · 08/07/2005 14:16

my dd (2.9) this morning on finding a £5 note

"Mummy this is called note money. You give it to the people and they give you chips"

Ok maybe she is a little dim

expatinscotland · 08/07/2005 14:17

Being clever is over-rated. Look at all the rich and famous who are thick as two planks. I mean, Collen McLoughlin and Posh Beckham, anyone?

Also money related DS1 AGES ago asked me if we could go to the shop - I told him I had no money (which was true) he turned round and said

"well just take some out of daddy's wallet" LOL

Listmaker · 08/07/2005 14:19

Most kids I know now are acceptable enough looking but when I was hanging round with people with babies there were some HIDEOUS ones! I always wondered whether the parents realised .

My dd1 is totally stunning but I'm objective enough to see that dd2 is more cute than pretty. Obviously I think they are both gorgeous and would never tell dd2 that!

alexsmum · 08/07/2005 18:02

the attractiveness thing always gets me... there really are some very plain children about and its very awkward for me because my children are stunning, simply stunning. How awful for the parents of these plain children to observe the contrast between their children and mine. sigh.
