Is it OK to do dyslexia test at 6 and 10 months?

Have organised a test for my son who will be seven at the end of April. Does anyone think it matters that he will be having the test 2 months early? He seems to have quite a few indications and our knowledgable TA thinks might be dyslexic too.
Would be so grateful for any advice.
Thank you in advance.

I am sure the tests results will still be valid, but LEAs often have rules about the age of a child when they take the test and they might therefore be able to choose to ignore it, if it differs from their guidelines. Good luck and I hope the test results are useful so that your son's school can help him.

Thank you for that. Seems to be so much differing advice, even within friends at same school. Everyone seems to have had a different experience or gone down a different route!

Have decided to postpone until just after he is seven, just to be on the safe side.
Thanks again Going!

I used to work as an administrtaor for a dyslexia charity and whilst the psychologists would test 6 year olds we had to warn people that they couldn't guarantee a definite diagnosis. If there were indicators such as other family members with dyslexia then they were more likely to be able to succesfully diagnose. The testing material they used started from 6 year olds so it is possible to do the test but not necessarily get a definitive diadnosis.

I'm sorry to say but I read it that you were going to give a baby a test at 6 months then at 10 months. I will go and get myself a nice cup of tea now and have a sit down.

Catinthehat, I read it exactly the same way! And I'm already sitting down with the cup of tea!

Ha ha, well I am a bit worried about the fact that he couldn;t tell the time as a foetus
