Anyone have any experience with Kingsmead primary school? Is it as good as it seems on paper?
Other schools we are looking at are Rushmore and Millfields. Any comments most welcome, thanks.
I think we will put Rushmore first, but a bit stuck between the other two.

Bumping for you. You could also put a request for information in the mumsnet local section

Have you gone on visits yet mootie? That'll help massively. I've heard good things about all three schools, but no more detail than that.

Hi Mootie,

My DC both go to Rushmore but I know a number of Millfields parents. A while back Millfields was widely considered the best Clapton primary school (although we chose Rushmore over it as it is smaller and the buildings/grounds seemed friendlier for small children- we actually were given a place at Millfields but appealed to get Rushmore). However, following a change in headteacher Millfields was actually graded as inadequate in its very recent Ofsted report (previously was outstanding so quite a change). I'm sure partly it is due to the stricter Ofsted assessments now being done but also Millfields did a lot worse than other local schools with similar intakes in the latest KS2 SATS.

The recent Ofsted report for Millfields was right to point out that the more able children were not adequately challenged.

As parents of a Millfields pupil we noticed this was an issue a few years before the change of head teacher.

Following the recent Ofsted report the school is addressing the issue of the more able children not being sufficiently challenged. Most parents are supporting the school through this phase and are keeping their children in the school.

There is a strong sense of community at Millfields and the children we know who go there are very happy.

Go and visit the primary schools in your area and trust your instincts. You'll get a vibe as soon as you step through the gates!
