Children's holiday camps

Hello

I was hoping I might find some advice as to where is suitable for my children to join holiday camps.

I am new to this site and have no idea where to look, so have plumped for 'Education' - if I should be elsewhere, please advise.

We live in Finchley, North London and I have three children: 4, 7 and 12.

Thanks

Ruth

Depends what you mean by holiday camps - week residential, holiday time daycare etc

Residential - national providers such as PGL

Day camps - local - private suppliers or local council (your local council website and other parents may know)

'Camps' is also used to describe 2-hour holiday activity sessions too!

Hello Ruth

We live in Woodside Park, so know your area well.

The person who responded last is quite right, it depends upon whether you are looking for day or residential camps.

One of mine goes to a residential camp run by two local brothers. It is relatively small, fills up very early each year. It is marked 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, which is relatively rare and we find it unique in what it gives for our children. It is called XUK (short for Experience UK) and is really aimed at teenagers, although some send their children from as young as 6.

They also run day camps in your area - one in East Finchley and one in Hampstead Garden Suburb. Both are fairly well known and have an outstanding reputation in the local area (Mini Minors and Cross Keys).

Their website is www.xkeys.co.uk and I hope you find them as good as I do - good luck.

Hi Ruth

I've got 5 year old twins who have been both to Mini Minors and Cross Keys (run by the same company) and to Highland Games/Sports Bag which takes place both at King Alfred School and near Finchley.

They've enjoyed both and will be going again next year.

Think a company called Teamy do a day camp at Martin School in East Finchley and there's another company that does activities at (I think) Fortismere School during the holidays.

My DD (nearly 8) goes to a variety of day and residential holiday camps. In the summer we use KidsKlub in the UK for residential (from age 6, in week long blocks) She loves KidsKlub. Otherwise look round the local area for day camps - Fit for Sport are all over the place, including St Johns Wood, local arts/theatre places often do stuff, or there may be camps running in local schools or sports centres.

My dd (now 11) has attended (and loved) XUK (short for Experience UK) for a residential camp and still attends Mini Minors and Cross Keys for day camps (both in North London) and run by the same guys and has benefitted greatly from it.

Ruth

Was just addressing our camps for the coming year and thought I'd let you know that Cross Keys in East Finchley are running this February half term.
