Hi please forgive me for being thick but yr 3 DS has come home with patters in nine homework. Two columns to complete first column with the heading nines. In this column the numbers 9,18.27,36 are shown and you have to complete the pattern to 180 which is easy. In the second column it heads digit total and the number 9 is shown in the next two rows and I don't understand what the pattern should be. Hope I have made myself understood and would appreciate any help.

it's multiplying by 3 (which you've figured out) but I don't understand your 'heads digit total' for the second column. am confused

The heading is 'digits total' and then has number 9 in the first row and number 9 in the second row. Also there are arrows showing from the first column to the second and I am really confused. Thanks for any help you can give.

I also posted on other thread:

Add up the two digits in the other column

9 = 9
1+8 = 9
2+7 = 9

They will all eb 9. They are teaching your DS that the digits in all multiples of 9 = 9.

You are a star thanks so much. Does this mean I am the thickest mum on MN?

No, I very much doubt it

I have recently been teaching DD the same fact about multiples of 9. Also been showing her how to use her 10 fingers to work out the answer to 9 times table too.
