Have applied to 2 nurseries she is low down on their waiting lists...

not sure whether to apply for more as we're also trying to move house.

Anyone else feeling the worry already?

Not sure what your area is like for places, but I am the waiting list coordinator for a pre school in Surrey where the children start at 2.5yrs. I have been full for Sept or a few months now and already have about 10 places (out of 26) full for Sep 10 too, it is never too early, the worst that will happen is that you may lose a deposit depending on the policy of the particular nursery you choose. Def worth having a look now...

We heard last month that we have a place at the school nursery for my youngest DS.

I won't hear til May whether he has been allocated mornings or afternoon though.

I really want mornings, but people taking the schools wrap around care get priority on it, and I don't need it.

first nursery says she is 15th on the list...
second says they dont start offering places till summer term..

what happens if i dont get her a place at these two? do you just ring them all to find one with a place?

my firend recently moved back from canada with her 4y/o she got her straight into a nursery full time with no problem!

Personally, I would visit all the local nurseries, select the ones I would want my child to go to and put my name down on those... the nursery that doesn't offer spaces until summer term, is it just first come first served then? Have they given you a date to start calling? Think my system is a lot more organised..

DD has been offered 2 days not of my original choice as the waiting list has been so long. She has been on it for 18 months. She starts in Sept aged 3.

Luckily she has been going to a different nursery for last 2 years so not missed out, but this nursery is a proper nursery pre-school, fab reputation so was worth waiting for. If we did it now, she would not have got a space before school.

but been a bit lackadaisical as we were supposed to have moved house by now.

My waiting list always shifts quite a bit at the last minute, 2 reasons mainly, people who have moved out of the area and not let me know and those that put their kids on more than one waiting list and choose the other pre school, there is always hope!

DS part-time 3 afternoons a week at 3 - nurseries who do afternoons often have empty places then as few people want afternoons.

It was ideal - the classes are much smaller about 8-10 and he setteld down well as a result. He has also been offered a full time morning place from Sept ahead of those on the waiting list.
