Hi

I have two children at staines prep, and another who has moved onto secondary school now. Is a great school the children are very happy there and love going.

Is your DS starting in reception or a later year?

(My kids are at other independent schools in the area, but we have played them in many matches).

Hi scienceteacher am on Staines/Wraysbury borders - nearer to town though so nice easy walks to waitrose and no worries about parking the car!!

Our 3 DC are often involved in matches etc. so may have been a chance that I have seen you somewhere at somepoint - Though I must admit we often feel like the "poorer side of the family" - when we come up against some of the other huge schools

Are busy looking at secondarys at the moment for DS2 and really do not have a clue.

If your DC are at this stage yet would love to hear your opinions.

I am also walking distance to the town centre but on the other side of the river

My boys are at senior school in Addlestone/Weybridge. They went to prep school at Bishopsgate.

I was going to mention that there really aren't a lot of senior school choices for boys in the area.

SGC is probably the easiest one to get to and is a good all-round seletive school. Hampton is harder to get to, is all-boys, and has a reputation as an academic hothouse. Licensed Victuallers is a good non-selective school, and Halliford with not such a good reputation. That's about it. It is much easier to place girls!

puplepeppapig - DS1 will be at the local state infants from Sept but he will probably transfer into Staines Prep at year3 so I might know you in a few years. Lots of colleagues have had children go there and all speak highly (and children have done well, getting scholarships etc to Hampton/LEH and the like).

(btw scienceteacher - I wonder if a friend of mine may have met you recently - she has just put her toddler son down for a Windsor prep and was raving about the science lesson she saw)
