School Holiday clubs help needed

I am about to embark on returning to the work place (part time in school hours) next week (big step after 3 years and having had depression).

Anyway I have no expereince of holiday clubs to look after my 2 DD (one is 5 1/2 and the other is 3 1/2). I could use nursery but by the time I've paid for them both I'm vastly out of pocket, as they charge for a full day.

Can anyone suggest how I find childcare, what to look for etc. I have spoke to a couple of childminders who have room, but they are taking holidays at different time to our family holiday.

I live about 8 miles from Chester, towards Warrington.

All the Holiday clubs I have ever used start from age 5. Can you do Nursery for 1 and club for the other (I used to do this until both were over 5).

Also, contact your local council who may run subsidised clubs for residents - or have a list of available clubs.

Other option - do you know a reliable University / Sixth form Student who will be home and looking for funds to alleviate student debt? Good if well know by the kids beforehand?

I had 2 in a Sports Centre club for 4 weeks of the Summer for many years - cost me most of that month's wages but they were happy & costs much reduced in term time!

Most holiday clubs we've used start from about the age they start reception - so 4, but 4yos about to start or already in reception. Some start from 3. Round here the one that starts from 3 is double the price of the others so we haven't used it.

We've used these school age holiday clubs for our over 4s and old nursery or childminder fro the preschooler/s.

Try your local leisure centres as the dc get a bit older, mine love the club at the leisure centre, but it's for school age only.

Some children's centres or preschools do holiday clubs which cater for younger children, our current preschool does admit 3yos to holiday club.

you have to ask around really. try www.childcarelink.co.uk, look at posters in library and leisure centres.

Hi dilemma - supercamp doesn't operate in my area - unfortunately.

Fennel - thanks have tried local Leisure centre only takes from 5, although have range the Leisure Centre near where I work (in fact I used to look after holiday club there when I was 16 - too many years ago to think about)

Anyway they take from 4, so can use for summer hols, on holiday at Whitsun, just Easter to cover, and as only work for 3 days, 2 of which fall for bank holiday, only need cover for 4 days.

DD2 in nursery for 2 of those, so need to speak to grandparents (although I don'tthink they'll help! haven't in past). Sogot childminder possible and DH has said he wants to take time off with just them.

Poor Dh never considered he'd want time on own with them, as I've always been main carer.

Panic over, although I still feel a little as will get resticted time with DD's and after having depression only really appreciating time with them last holidays.
