22 A levels!

Anyone seen this article about a boy who did 22 A levels +2ASs?

It seems insane, but I can't help admiring him, even though there does seem a fair amount of overlap in the subjects done & quite a few 'softer' options too.

Generally I'm in favour of a more normal number and a life too - but still - wow!

I don't understand how he only started studying some of the subjects 3 days before the exam but still passed with an A,B or C.

Is that even possible

I don't think it's possible for ordinary mortals sherby - except maybe in subjects like general studies.

Were they all proper subjects or did he throw some Mickey Mouse ones in there as ballast?

I was at university with a boy who had 9 full strength old school A levels. He had been taking them since he was 13.

When I was a student many years ago we always assumed that anyone who had done a lot of A levels had done time inside .

GrinnyPig · 31/01/2009 18:54

Sorry, but what would be the point in that...

Not sure why Urdu has separate A levels for language and literature when (at least in my day) French language and literature were combined into one. Still it is very impressive that he did all those A levels over a 12 month period.

If he was doing that many A Levels then, perhaps, his time would have been better employed going up a notch or two and doing some graduate entry level stuff instead.

It just sounds a bit like showing off otherwise but I guess he was needing academic stimulation. It used to be the case that you couldn't mix certain subjects as they were too similar and so easier. He's obviously very bright - though if his strong point is Maths why did he only get a C- but I had a good laugh about the A in Psychology after 3 days' study!

( Waits for the flak from parents of A Level Psychologists )

A few years ago I decided never having done science o levels to do biology at evening classes. There were no spaces on the gcse course, so they put me on the a level course instead..Despite not understanding the basics or any of the chemistry related stuff I got an A becasue I wrote good essays on the soft stuff - and picked ip lots of marks on the coursework.
Needless to say I am not impressed...
