or rather, not DS's tutor as it turns out.
We found this tutor through a website a few weeks ago, spoke on the telephone, he sounded really keen to establish himself as a private tutor (currently year 3 teacher in state school) and we were happy to go with an inexperienced guy as we have no pre-conceived ideas ourselves about what DS will gain but DS had specifically asked for a tutor and we have agreed to it for a trial period.
So anyway, after a few e mails and conversations, we agreed a rate and a date and time. I gave him our address and ew were all set for the following week. Then the guy didn't show up. DS was mortified. When i eventually got hold of him it turned out he had sent me an e mail 2 days before asking if I could have a copy of DS's SAT results and I hadn't replied so he assumed I didn't want the session after all. He didn't call me to confirm, just assumed my not replying meant that .
We agreed to have a session this thursday instead and we have both been very thorough in sending and replying to e mails. He even e mailed me this morning to confirm the time (5pm) and I replied immediately. At 4.35pm I got a text asking me what was my nearest station and how to get here from the station. I replied immediately while thinking "zero out of 10 for forward planning and preparation".
At 4.45 I received another text saying sorry but he wouldn't be coming after all as it was not worth it for the fee involved. .
He had suggested the fee range originally and I had suggested the mid way point which he had happily (or so it seemed) agreed to.
Am I right to be?
DS is gutted, yet again.
