Sex education in schools

I have just been watching a programme on teenage pregnancy and all the teen parents said that they had never had any form of sex education in school.

I find it a little hard to believe, only because I was in school in the mid-eighties and we had very comprehensive lessons on it.

Just wondered if others had none or some (sex education, that is)

Yes, we had sex education in our schools around about the same time as you. Albeit we only had one or two lessons but we did get told what things were and how to use them

It is covered, in great detail, at KS3 (age 11-14), it is also touched on in KS2. As well as being covered in science lessons, it is also covered in PHSE lessons, so I don't know where these kids went to school. It may be that they were bored and didn't lesten, but the subjects are covered. I went to school in the 70's and we were not taught about contraceptions at all, but things have changed.

I was at school in the 70's, in a Catholic school and got a really good sex educatiuon. In the 6th form we complained that we knew nothing about STD's and they found us the info plus a film to watch!

I went to a catholic school. When I was 11 we received a confusing letter given to us via our parents, which wittered on about god and loveing and close cuddles, and seed being implanted... I knew they were talking about S E X but knew very little about the subject, other than everyone snickered about it alot... I received no formal sex education, except when I was 16 and studying for O level Human Bio - our new, young and trendy teacher told us that without the correct lessons in human reproduction we would not pass our O levels, however, she was forbidden to teach it (can you believe it - charming). Being pretty cool though - she made us promise to not mention it to any other teacher (or she could lose her job!!!) and she would teach it behind closed doors. We were aghast - but that's about as far as my sex education went. Being from an overly modest, catholic household, and mostly female (apart from my father and a dog with a sexual identity crisis) I came across my first willy at 17 and it petrified me! I was clasically niaive due to no sex education. Glad I seem in the minority here.
