Dressing Up Days

Okay, I completely irrationally loathe dressing up days, so I am probably completely being unreasonable.

BUT this half term alone we've had:

  • Pink Day (in aid of breast cancer research). Now, okay - good cause, happy to do it. But I have BOYS. Cue trip to shop to buy something pink that they wear ONCE and then give to neighbour's daughter.
  • Book Character Day. . I give up on the idea of making costumes now there's two of them and buy them something - at least one of them can be reused for a halloween party they're going to and maybe they'll play with the other at some point.

NOW we've just had a letter home for Pyjama Day. THREE DAYS after fecking book character day. WHY?!

They can wear their pyjamas and dressing gowns and the teachers will be too - oh how fun.

Except their pyjamas are old and two short and not meant for public wear and they don't OWN dressing up gowns.

I'm going to have to go shopping again, aren't I?

Bastards.

I thought it would all stop once dd got to junior school - on no. Latest is dress up as a Victorian. I have bitten the bullet and bought an outfit on Ebay.

Since Monday between 2 schools I have had 9 letters about various things.

Go to Primark for the pj's and dressing gowns. They have pj's for about £4 and dressing gowns for about £5

Im with you! Bloody dressing up days! Once a year would be sufficient.
I always thought i was alone in my disapporoval, the minority perhaps. But apparently not

THANK you Fimbo - that sounds a more reasonable price for dressing gowns - have been looking online and the cheapest I found was £10 so that's a considerable saving.

scary: I feel horribly bah humbug by not liking them. It just feels too much like enforced jollity for me which automatically gives me the hump.

Still, at least I get the opportunity to act the petulant child and stamp my feet on here, getting it out of my system.

Agree completely. If necessary, why can't they just wear a hat or something. Funny socks.
