waste time posting as I am just sharing this for the MNers out there that are considering boarding, and I thought it would be nice for them...

DC3 is about to leave her boarding prep school, which we sent her to at 11 when she was drifting along at the local day school. We talk or email daily, but she has just sent me her weekly letter, which reads:

It seems so strange to be leaving XXXXXXXX! It was only 2 years and a term ago when I came! Yesterday we had a BBQ and because it is our last weekend we all dressed up in really wacky clothes...I have had a lot of fun hear at XXXXXXXX. Winning the JET, tuck feasts, boarding, playing in the evenings, form plays. I would go on but I would go on for ages. It has been the best time ever and I will never forget it!

Her words (and grammar )

heheheeh .. and how far do you think your 'don't post' title is going to get you .. you know that's a red-rag to a bull on here

(i am anti personally - but)... delighted that your DD has had a really positive experience.

I suppose the question is the extent to which people say what they think they want the other person to hear but it's certainly better than a letter saying you've ruined her life and she'll never recover.

Thank you lilo - its nice to know that some people can understand that a 12 year old can just be saying what she thinks!

That's great Sal, where are you sending her next? I moved ds away from his excellent prep to come to Brussels with us and attend the local international school. I regret it now, and am looking at moving him to board in year 9, as the teaching here is not good enough imo (and yes, I am a secondary teacher).

Make sure you keep it for when she goes into therapy

Very sweet letter.

That's lovely. I hope my DCs enjoy their time boarding just as much when their time comes if they want to.
