St Albans secondary schools: best fit for a reserved child?

Hi all, I’d really appreciate some feedback on secondary schools in St Albans.
We’re planning to move to the area, mainly because of the schools, the community feel, and the lovely people we’ve heard so much about. My DD is quite a reserved child, and a big part of this move is to give her an environment where she can thrive.
We’ve done the tour of Sandringham and honestly came away really impressed, especially after hearing the headmaster’s talk. Two things he said really stayed with me: that they want children to make fond memories during their school years, and that they want them to leave as well-rounded individuals. That really resonated with me, as that’s exactly what I want for my daughter.
However, the more I read online, the more I’m wondering whether Sandringham might be too academic or overwhelming for her, especially given the size of the school. She is quite a reserved child, so I’m trying to understand what the day-to-day experience is like for children who aren’t naturally the loudest or most confident.
We’re yet to visit STAGS, Beaumont, or any other schools people would recommend.
I’m mainly looking for a nurturing school where children are supported, encouraged to grow in confidence, and become the best version of themselves. Of course, academics are important, but my biggest priority is for my daughter to be happy, feel valued, build confidence, and leave school as a well-rounded person with happy memories.
I’d really appreciate any feedback or personal experiences. I’m a slightly worried mum trying to make the right decision, so any advice would mean a lot.
Thank you 😊

You will find reserved kids in all of them - St Albans is quite a geeky place for want of a better word. It’s more about catchment and where you live as it’s very hard to get into
certain schools as they are so popular. You need to be within about 500 metres of some of them. Stags is different as you can live in a wider catchment

Sandringham is very academic and also (by St Albans standards) very strict - punishments doled out for minor things. It is a great school for the right child but it is not known for being nurturing.

My friend’s DS goes there but they have just picked STAGS for their DD who has mild additional needs, as they felt it was much more nurturing. That would be my first port of call.

Beaumont has a great reputation and isn’t as strict as Sandringham but is still a massive school, and not one I hear described as nurturing.

Marlborough is considered nurturing. The headteacher is about to change but I imagine they will try and keep the ethos
