Low Stimulation Show Recommendation

Hi everyone, any recommendation on low stimulation shows? I find some low stim shows on YouTube well, not quite low stim. But I'm not looking for ASMR shows but more educational shows, to keep them occupied and learning as opposed to putting them to sleep. I cannot bear to listen to another high pitch cartoon voice....is that bad? Any suggestions? TIA!

David Attenborough docs on iPlayer are adored by mine, specifically Planet Earth 2 and Blue planet 2. When they were younger we liked the Julia Donaldson adaptations on iPlayer too, they're nice and short as well

most things made more than 15 years ago! I got the kids to watch some of my childhood films/tv programmes and they are relaxing, no fast cuts, not much noisy music.

not sure how old your child is but I liked Let’s Go For a Walk for little ones

There is a YouTube channel showing whole episodes of the CBeebies series 'Come Outside', with Lynda Baron as 'Auntie Mabel', and her dog Pippin.

You haven't said the age, but animal related shows?
Deadly 60 & Animal Park for example?

For younger children the older BBC programmes such as
Postman Pat, and then Bagpus, Ivor the Engine, Paddington?

Mr. Roger's Neighborhood (American)
Little Bear (I've heard it be called "Quaaludes for kids")
Bluey (duh)

Of the three, I would say only Mr. Roger's Neighborhood is educational as most episodes have a segment where they show or demonstrate some aspects of day to day life, like a farm or factory

For children? I wanted to recommend one but I am not sure it is child appropriate.

Could you try audiobooks whilst kids do colouring or play dough?

Also recommend the old series of the Moomins. That was lovely.

ThePlumFish · 28/07/2026 13:58

Thanks all! I was recently recommended Olme and the World on YouTube and we love it... the pace is really slow and no noisy music at all! I've honestly not come across anything like it.. but I think the channel is new so not too many episodes available... so looking for more options out there.

Puffin rock (Netflix), tumble leaf & button moon (prime), seconded auntie Mabel

ThePlumFish · 31/07/2026 08:27

I know everyone loves Auntie Mabel but I would really prefer something a bit more modern (lol) if u know what i mean....

What about audio books? I like to combine one with a craft activity like beads or a jigsaw.

NimbleBrickSnail · 01/08/2026 11:30

Olme and the World is utterly quiet and as modern as it gets. We love it. Even my partner marvelled at it and he's not easily impressed.

I know what you mean about Auntie Mabel. It's too dated even for me.

ThePlumFish · 03/08/2026 14:04

@NimbleBrickSnail Yes, we love Olme and the World! I didn't know what to make of it at first but the it quickly grew on everyone (me included)... it's like for children but yet so adult... if you know what I mean...
