Help! Where to buy school uniform for skinny 4yr old ds?

Ordered two styles of age 4 trousers from M&S, length wise they were fine, but they were massive around the waist and hips. Even the adjustable button ones make him look like a draw-string bag! And the short and wide polo shirts make him look like he's standing in the wind.

So where would be best to try?

My friend's dd is really slight and she found the uniforms at mothercare were the only ones that didn't swamp her

We used to get our from Adams they do smaller sizes., or have they all closed down. BHS is another which goes quite small.

I got mine from adams when my ds started bless he needed age 3 and they were still bit big

I got ds trousers in Mothercare (aged 3-4). They were the best fit I tried

My experience with girls is that the cheaper shops do the skinnier fits. M&S is more generously cut and particularly good for the chunkier child.

Maybe it's the same for boys.

I still have this problem with both dss, 9 and 12 yo. Trousers never fit round the waist and belts are such a hassle.

My DSs aren't really skinny and it amazes me that the default sizing seems to be for rather plump waists.

Next flat front trousers are skinny and have adjustable waist - they fit DS and he is tiny. Mothercare were far bigger I found. Adams do a skinny fit too.
