Affordable teacher gift ideas for end of year

FunGirlMum · Yesterday 11:31

Hi,
I know I've left it late, but has anyone got any good, reasonably priced, ideas for teacher end of year gifts please?

I've bought bits in the past, but they turn up and always look a bit cheap. I've looking for something that looks great, but doesn't cost the earth.

Thanks

Teachers really don’t want gifts it all ends up in charity shops.Would be better for DC to make a lovely card, write a poem, paint a picture. Sure it will welcomed.

Hello, as a teacher, I would say there’s no need to
buy anything at all. However, if you have valued the teacher’s work, kindness, expertise etc with anything in particular, then a handwritten letter with examples of what your child has enjoyed would be very much appreciated. I have some
of these and they are beyond price.

I've brought these: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/4516487462/teacher-pen-case-present-both-can-be

One for the teacher and one for the TA.
They arrived on Friday.

Lovely engraving on the pens and case, and they are great quality, and I'm over the moon with them.

Hope this helps.

Honestly, a card with a sincere message inside would be more than enough and would be treasured by most teachers. If you want to give something small, a £5 book token or Costa token or similar would probably be very welcome.

My mum was a teacher and always refused to let us take gifts, for all the reasons teachers here say, but I hated being the "only" child without one, so I used to send a token gift. Often handcream because you can get nicely presented range ones in a pump bottle for about £2/3. I figure handcream us something that does at least get used up, even if you only put it in your downstairs loo for guests.

We will be doing a hand-written card, but just wanted to get a gift to show our appreciation of their hard work. Something that would be useful for them.
Thank you

I went with a m&s gift card. I thought that way the teacher can treat herself to whatever it is she likes, or buy supplies for the staff room (biscuits, teas etc) if she wanted to share with the TA’s.

House plant.

Teacher can choose to keep it in the classroom if they don’t want it at home. Many schools are trying to add greenery to make rooms more natural and homely.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · Yesterday 19:05

You’ll never please everyone- we are all so different but I always appreciate any little gift or note I’ve ever got. It is lovely to know you are having an impact. Also don’t forget the TA’s. They often spend more time one on one with children than the teachers do for very little financial reward. If a member of staff goes above and beyond, an email to the head is always welcome too.

Please don't buy anything. Just a simple thank you or a card really is enough. X

Cannotbelievepeoplecanbesojudgemental · Yesterday 19:16

If you really want to buy something, I find a notebook, pens, highlighter etc are great. Nothing fancy, but will be useful.

Last year, 3 separate children bought felt tips for my new class - i think they probably told their parents about our low supply. That has been brilliant this year, and saved me needing to buy as school doesn't provide.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · Yesterday 19:23

You don't need to buy anything. Mugs, especially, just end up in the staffroom. A nice note (not even a card!) means more than anything.

DefiantRabbit9 · Yesterday 20:18

Chocolate and a thank you card. Always a win.

violetcuriosity · Yesterday 20:21

I usually get a £5 costa voucher and a card. I’m a teacher and would appreciate this x

Yes we’ve always done this and same with most of my friends at different schools too. This way the teacher and TA get a decent amount on one single gift voucher and no tat that they don’t want or will just end up throwing away or donating

Surely no one wants 25+ small gifts of mugs, pen sets, £10 vouchers for all different places.

The best thing about clubbing together as well is that it all comes from the class and no one is noticeably contributing more or less than anyone else.

I got one from Stunrosie Gifts on Etsy last year and it was really lovely. They do personalised teacher gifts that look much more expensive than they are, and the quality was great. Worth having a look if you're after something a bit different without spending a fortune. 😊

I once got half a dozen bunches of flowers from my teacher neighbour. Her and her partner were going away as soon as school finished! destination wedding or something but the flowers would all be dead by the time they returned. My fire place got to look pretty nice for a week.

I’m sure the teacher will appreciate a card with a handwritten note much more than any present. My teacher friend says that 90% of the gifts she and her colleagues receive, ends up at the charity shop.

Busbygirl · Yesterday 22:04

Noooo to clubbing together to get a voucher. I hate this. It’s embarrassing and just seems wrong to me. I’m not the only teacher in our staff room that thinks this.
Just a note or homemade card is so much more appreciated.
