They'll just laugh and bitch about you in the staff room. You'll go down in history. Just kidding.

MrsWeasley · 25/06/2008 00:21

Does your school have a website to check the details?

If not, dont worry kids usually forget these things in about 4 years

cornsilk · 25/06/2008 00:22

you have a gimp mask?

harpomarx · 25/06/2008 00:23

no, they don't MrsWeasley.

They remember them forever.

twinsetandpearls · 25/06/2008 00:23

I have already this year:

  1. Not sent her to school as I thought she was on holiday
  2. Lost a reading book
  3. Said shit you are good at this when running a stall at the fete
  4. Turned up on the wrong day for a party

We are leaving the area.

With your track record its a safe bet that you have the wrong day.

twinsetandpearls · 25/06/2008 00:25

Have checked website nothing.

DD came home saying some of them were dressing up like evacuees as part of national veterans celebrations. She has named the teacher and other children doing it. I asked a friend whose daughter is in the school and they said Oh yes some are dressing up tomorrow. They did this two years ago. The school does do dress up days.
DD was really adamant it was tomorrow. I have tried to phone the school but was too late.

or, you wear gimp mask and dirty clothes. dd follows behind with head in bag.

twinsetandpearls · 25/06/2008 00:26

lol, but if she has the right day imagine her pride at turning up covered in gravy browning and a gimp mask.

how old is DD?

twinsetandpearls · 25/06/2008 00:27

I did take her to Tescos the other day whilst wearing my pyjamas - which I thought looked like cropped pyjamas and a t shirt - she did the head in a bag thing then.

At what point does it stop being endearing and become abuse?

hang on, twinset, why would wearing one of these make your dd look like an evacuee?

twinsetandpearls · 25/06/2008 00:28

When my DC were 6 we had lots of letters about everything.

My 13yo however is expected to tell parents what is happening, hence I didn't know they had a Day Off this week until she was making plans to go out

twinsetandpearls · 25/06/2008 00:30

My mum takes her to school I will ask her to do the dressing gown and gimp mak routine!

If you are worried why not send her in uniform with the evacuee getup in a bag? I sent ds to school in mufti a week before the official mufti day once , he was a bit annoyed but forgave me. I don't think the school batted an eyelid - certainly no-one ever said anything.

I don't think it is a formal thing, she absolutley idolises one of the teachers. Year before last we dressed up as people from WW2 for the school fair. They are watching a film about child evacuees and as far as I can tell some of them said to this teacher shall we wear our costumes again and she said what fun and the teacher plus s small circle of girls agreed to do it.

I think I will send her in wearing uniform with a note and her costume.

Another one of my errors was on teacher strike day they were told to wear clothes in their team colours as they were doing team games. The letter was not clear so I packed jeans and a coloured top as well as her PE shorts incase the jeans were not wanted. DD got told off for bringing jeans into school.

Ours is actually better than that one, I will put a photo up when I can!
