Moving to Bristol with teenagers: advice on school admissions and renting

Moving back to UK, Bristol. 2 kids 15 and 13, worried about school admission. Should we try rent closer to Cotham school or Redland Green or Free school. Contacted all of them, all oversubscribed. Advice??

Agree on this, DS did both UK and US exams and we couldn't believe the US tests were SO MUCH easier, it didn't look like just one year difference.

Going into year 10 is probably a good idea.

It would be worth asking Airbus if they can fund school fees for your son, given that he’d be moving in the middle of GCSEs so would struggle in a state school. If they want you enough they do have a budget to pay fees for overseas hires moving to the UK.

Ex-tutor here. Redland Green has a tiny catchment area, so you are unlikely to get in unless you live in the park. It’s really not that great if there’s any SEND. DS did really well at Cotham, got a masters from the university and now has his dream job in London. I would get a tutor as the curriculum is more advanced here compared to the equivalent US age range.
