Do children usually prepare for GL assessments in Year 7 maths?

DD is in year 7 and her end of year 7 exams are coming up. She is in an independent Sen school but it’s mainstream curriculum for those academically able. When she started they did some tests but we were never told much about them until I received her annual review documents through recently.
they were the GL tests. I’ve just found out that’s also the tests they do on the end of year 7 exams. Apart from the spontaneous test at the beginning of year 7 she she’s never seen it attempted past GL papers etc
she went from a mainstream primary school and I was shocked to see her “ maths age “ on the original tests were age 8 !
in comparison her maths sats was 101 so nothing gifted but at least reaching “ 100”
she reallt struggled in the GL assessmemt and scored 74.
her class work, end of topic tests and every end of term test based on work they have been taught in class has been in the “ secured “ grade.
when found out this week the the end of exam test was GL because we didn’t know have been revising topics but not to that type of question she is struggling with the concept because has never seen it before. Does this show no matter what the sats scores was or what her other tests throughout the year show that she is not currently “ passing maths “
do children usually prep for a GL assement ?

In the maths sats at the end of ks2 25% of students get 100 or below.

obviously your dd got a bit better than that.

in mainstream secondaries year 7 exams are generally internally written and marked.

a score of 100 on the maths sats would in my school lead to a targeted grade at gcse of a 4.

as your dc is at a Sen specialist school her progress may be different.,

obviously I don’t know what her Sen is but I’ve taught students with a range of disabilities and sometimes the disabilities can make it hard to access maths - eg one lad who was visually impaired and unfortunately had a bleed in his eye which meant he was functionally blind.
