Worried about level of Maths for year 4

My son is in year 4 and always tells me the maths is too easy. I have spoken to the school many times and they tell me that they have to follow the curriculum. I have attached a photo showing what he is doing as homework at the moment. I feel it is far too easy for his age range and it really worries me that he is not being challenged enough. I wondered what your thoughts were? Also wondered if anyone sends their child to private school and what their education is like compared to this?

Ridiculously easy compared to my dd in year 5. I would need to put effort into her homework. State primary, Wales.

I doubt it's all that easy and it might adapt if they answer those questions quickly amd correctly. However if your child is very good at maths them the state school curriculum will.probably frustrate them and I think it is more frustrating when maths is too easy than any other other subject as the questions usually only have one answer you can't expand on.

We basically taught our daughter maths 1-2 years ahead at home and the teachers thanked us at parents evenings as they couldn't cater for her (or one or two others) within the bounds of the national curriculum. She's going to an academically selective senior school so this shouldn't be an issue any more. We considered prep school and we believe they would have tailored the curriculum for her but it was much cheaper to do it ourselves!

@Krobus State teachers can go beyond the curriculum into much greater depth beyond the lesson delivered. Some are not great at this but there’s no need to race ahead and get even more frustrated in y5/6. Depth and not breadth from future years should be absolutely possible, if a teacher knows what they are doing and the maths co ordinator is good.
