Math and logic puzzle for a primary school child

My child is really into math, logic puzzles, etc. I ve been looking for math games for a while now (non verbal reasoning, numbers, patterns), but they all are very much dopamine addiction (maybe except khan academy but debatable and he great out of it anyways).
Primary school age - he is 6 now but am looking for something he can use for the next couple years at least. Couldn’t find a single one where dopamine comes not from gamification but from solving hard puzzles.
Anything at all?

Have you seen wildmaths? Could be what you are looking for. Haven’t looked at it for years It used to be bigger more conceptual maths puzzles for young learners. Suited my very able early mathematician.

Sudoku?
Chess?
All the puzzle page in a newspaper?

Brilliant.org is designed for adults but it is great

Some of the more challenging things by Smart Games? A lot of them have a range of challenge levels. Something like Gravitrax?

What about more logic/strategy board games?

My son was similar so I bought Labyrinth and Blockus as well as a bunch of the Happy Puzzle games and he still loves them 5 years on.

My DD has a big collection of Smart Games. Her favourite is IQ Stars.

She likes the more abstract ones better than the themed ones.

If you want something digital I can recommend cluesbysam.com, the free daily puzzles get progressively more difficult throughout the weeks, and you can buy extra puzzle packs if you want more.

Thanks everyone
appreciate it!
very helpful - yes, looking for something digital
quite like brilliant.org, but slightly not what im looking for - not fitting the age group but liked it overall!

I think the challenge is the adaptation to their level because kids got bored so quickly
slightly off their level and they will loose interest

thinking to design my own 🤣 can be done fairly quickly

I came to suggest Rubik's cube or games like Backgammon until you clarified you wanted something digital.

Lalageo · 02/05/2026 07:14

Oh yeah! We love smart games! Looking for sth digital!

Beast academy. Mainly a maths course but also has really good games that are actually maths.

we have Apple Arcade and the kid play different puzzle games on there.

not digital but I recommend the Gritty Kids puzzle books for that age.

Elevate is good. It’s £20 for a year.

Khan academy is good. 11+ prep could be good fun, we use a website which gives quick daily quizzes etc. Also, my kids are obsessed w Rubiks cubes, might be a good buy
