My dd is really keen to do a Fine Art degree, whilst we are happy she is doing something she loves we are unsure where it will go, please reassure me (or not).

I know primary teachers, secondary teachers, Nanny, childminder. All of whom have a degree in fine art.

I know one who worked in product design for a high-end fashion label. And is now working as an artist

Me - I’m now a manager in HR!

I don't personally have one but I do work in the arts. Working at an visual art foundation for 12 years, all sorts of the staff had Fine Art degrees. The Art Technicians, as you'd expect, but also the Head of Operations and the Finance Assistant, plus the Engagement and Learning team. Most of the curatorial team were Art Historians rather than Fine Art grads, but you can go into curating via Fine Art.

There are lots of careers for Fine Art graduates, although the pay is generally low throught the sector and lots of routes will need further degrees.

I did fine arts at Central St Martins. I also did a Btec in multimedia design to learn about graphic design, Web design and 3D animation and widen my ability to find a job.

Alongside my art practice (I do exhibitions and sell my paintings) I have worked in marketing and communications ( Press officer, Head of Communications, Marketing Manager). I used my creative skills to design websites, posters, logos and to run social media accounts.

Not personally, but I know a lot of people who did FA degrees — working as artists, teaching art at schools or Schools of Art, technicians at Schools of Art, community arts projects, arts admin, curators, set design, and things completely unrelated to their degree.

I know one who became a digital illustrator, but who says that work has now dried up because of AI, one who became an art teacher & head of a school art dept, one who became a posh painter & decorator, doing fancy finishes for high-end clients, one who became a ceramicist & has had a good career with that

Former SIL has one, then qualified as an architect.
