alevel flash cards app? - DD struggling to do it all, help!

Good morning!

my DD is studying biology, geography and psychology for A-level and has been handwriting her revision cards since September. She is struggling to keep up.

Her biology teacher yesterday suggested to the class they should be using an online tool as it will be impossible for them to keep up with it all.

I for a long time have believed she may have ADHD (previous secondary school were useless, new college are now monitoring her discreetly) so she struggles to do things quickly and can be distracted easily - the workload with the added revision cards on top is a lot for her.

She is happy with her subjects but we need to find something that can support her and free up her time a little.

I’ve been researching online revision tools (Anki, Quizlet, StudySmarter and a new one I’ve seen called FlashRecall), which have your teens had success with?

The aim is find something that she can essentially snap and it uploads for her however all her friends using Anki say they still have to manually input it so if this is correct then this won’t help her?

Am happy to pay if required.

Thanks x

Thank you so much John for your really helpful post ☺️

We are going to look over them both this evening.

I use Tutor2u a lot for resources (I'm an Economics teacher). They do some pre-made flashcards for Geography and Psychology, which may be worth a look.

https://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/

free, covers all sciences, has flashcards, past papers, revision notes, covers all exam boards

I used quizlet a lot when studying a language. Can’t compare it with others but I found it flexible and useful. One feature which should appeal is that she can scan in her existing flashcards, so doesn’t need to re-do them.

Look at Notebook LM which is free from Google. Upload sources and it will make mind maps, flash cards, quizzes. Even a fake podcast if you want.

Seneca every time. Love it, decently academic and flexible without having to pay though the paid version offers some more

they do need to practice though - flash cards alone won’t get the best grades but kids often prefer them as they’re easier

Yes, @LottieMary makes a good point! The exams are not a test of how good your flashcards are. Make sure she has a good quality revision guide for each subject and does plenty of practice questions.

She might like UpLearn if it covers her subjects. I think it does Psychology and Biology.

With Geography the NEA is often the stumbling block.

Worth looking on Brainscape to see if there is anything suitable

With ds , the creation of the flash cards, hand written, were an important part of the revision / committing to memory process. He still does it now at uni.
